July 15, 1950 Jlgibson567@me.com Retired twice' Ministry Asst. Married 2 Central Yes Very After 2 1/2 less than successful years at UW, I joined the Army in Jan 71, spent 21+ good years fighting the Cold War as a Russian/Czech linguist. I married my wife Carol , who was also a soldier, in 1980 in Augsburg Germany. I also graduated from the U of Maryland that same year with a BA in Russian Studies. We had two daughters. Kelley and Erin, born in Berlin and Wiesbaden, respectively. I retired as a CWO3 in June '92 and started seminary at the Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville, KY.. I graduated with a MDIV degree in Dec '94. I went in to the PhD program, making it all the way through Comprehensive Exams before running out of steam. In Oct '95, I began what would be another 21+ year career at UPS, retiring in May 2016. My last 8 years or so were in Crew Scheduling with UPS's Airline. While doing that, I pastured 2 churches as a bi-vocational pastor for a total of 10 years. Carol and I have two grandchildren from our daughter Kelley, Raven - 17 and Phoenix - 21mos. Watching my granddaughter, Raven perform in musicals since she was about 12, gave me the idea that it would be fun to try my hand at it again. My previous experience dated back to "Guys and Dolls" and "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" at Central in our junior and senior years. So at the ripe young age of 67, I have realized that goal, having just completed four performances of "The Cotton Patch Gospel" from July 27-30. Unlike the group numbers in High School where I was reasonably well hidden, I was front and center for much of this one. I had a blast. I am also currently working on another show. I think I have discovered what to do in retirement!!
